Tranquility of nature is good for the wellbeing of your mind ...
Allowing yourself to listen the sounds and silence of nature you can increase the positive effects of nature on you.

AND ALREADY IT IS NOVEMBER ~ THE PENULTIMATE MONTH OF THE YEAR ~

Halloween is past and now the Holiday Season begins with Thanksgiving just a few weeks away.

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It was not until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November. Our Canadian friends have already celebrated Thanksgiving in October.

Almost all of the snowbirds have returned to Orange Acres and it is wonderful to see so many people out and about.

pilgrims and harvestWe have added a few activities to the calendar including our first Vespers Service on Sunday, November 12 at 7:00 p.m. Of course we still have our regular Exercise on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; Open play Billiards and Sequence on Mondays; Coffee Meeting and Donuts on Tuesdays; Bridge and Bingo on Wednesdays; and Mixed Cards on Thursdays.

Our Special Event in November is the Veterans Day parade, program and lunch on Saturday, November 11, beginning at 11:00 a.m. After the decorated golf cart and bicycle parade to the Gazebo, there will be a program at the Gazebo followed by a lunch back at the Community Centre. All are welcome - please sign up for the lunch.

We also have our first dance of the season on Saturday, November 18 with music by Mike Martin. Dust off your dancing shoes or just come to the Community Centre for an enjoyable evening.

On Thanksgiving Day, there will be a delicious dinner in the Community Centre at 4:00 p.m. Each year the Warrington's donate the turkeys and everyone brings a dish to share. Additional details are in the Orange Acres Observer.

The BEST things in LIFE are the PEOPLE we LOVE, the PLACES we have been and the MEMORIES we have made along the way.

Enjoy the month of November and be the Reason someone believes in the Goodness of people ~
