WELCOME TO THE MERRY MONTH OF MAY ~

The world's favorite season is the Spring - All things seem possible in May (Edwin Way Teale).

Well it is getting a little lonely in Orange Acres as most of our snowbirds have headed north. We wish them all safe travels and hurry back in the fall. It is now the quiet season for full time residents. Our activities have diminished quite a bit but we sure have had fun over the past few months. We have a pancake breakfast scheduled for Tuesday, May 3 and exercise continues through the summer months. Also continuing is Sequence on Monday evening, coffee meetings on Tuesday morning, Bridge on Wednesday afternoon and Mixed Cards on Thursday afternoon.

May WebsiteIt is hard to believe that we are already in a new month with goals to acomplish and high expectations for the month ahead. While we might see May as the height of Spring, May 1 is also an ancient Northern Hemisphere spring festival and holiday. It is celebrated in many cultures with a special festive ceremony or parade to welcome the fullness of spring. It is also the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, the patron saint of workers; hence its tie to labor and the world of work (I am sure we all remember our working days). In the United States, May Day is a day to honor the labor movement and Spring.  Let us all enjoy the Merry Month of May!

Thomas Jefferson wrote "Peace and friendship with all mankind is our wisest policy, and I wish we may be permitted to pursue it."

Thank you Judy Marian for the beautiful photo from the Cleveland Botanical Gardens.
