    Serenity - Peace - Tranquility

    Tranquility of nature is good for the wellbeing of your mind ...
    Allowing yourself to listen the sounds and silence of nature you can increase the positive effects of nature on you.
    People often say that it is silent (we mean totally silent) in nature. If you really are in nature there aren`t many sounds. However seldom there is a total silence in nature;

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WELCOME TO 2017!

Many of our snowbird friends will be returning this month and our fun-filled activities continue. We have Vespers on Sunday, January 8, a pancake breakfast on Tuesday, January 10 followed by our first Pot Luck of the season on Thursday, January 12. There is a Whist Party on Thursday, January 26 and have your sweet tooth ready for the Ice Cream Social on Monday, January 30.

January 1Our regular activities are continuing with a coffee meeting every Tuesday where you can meet new neighbors and catch up on the Orange Acres news. We also have billiards, regular exercise and water exercise, mixed golf, shuffleboard, bridge and mixed cards, computer ipad class, sequence and Bingo.

I read an excellent article in the Sarasota Herald Tribune by Siesta Key resident Robert Parkinson, Ph.D. and would like to include portions of it here as we begin a new year and perhaps consider his suggestions for a different way of "giving gifts."

TIME: Give your time to others - family, co-workers, acquaintances, and neighbors, even strangers.  Look at them.  Talk to them.  Listen to them.  Connect with them.  Each of us is allocated a limited amount of time, so use it well. We can't waste it today and expect to use it tomorrow or next week. When we waste it, it's gone forever.

YOURSELF: Give of yourself because there is no one else like you. And it's easy. You can do it on your own schedule - right at home if you want. Send a note - not an email or a tweet - not just a fancy commercial card. Send just a simple, handwritten note that will convey this message, "I'm thinking about you, because you're important to me."

Remember that LIFE is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away.

Enjoy the New Year ~
